Vanessa Carlton is starting to really “get” how to use social media! Earlier today, she threw out the idea of sharing a short behind-the scenes video or story about the upcoming record every Monday.

Each monday til album release i will post either: quip about why/where a lyric was born/ or a 15 sec video snippet of us in the studio. Yes?

Obviously the feedback was positive, so later on she shared a short clip of how they recorded the string quartet portions of “Carousel” on a keyboard. Watch below!

  • Vanessa Carlton Announces First Single, Carousel

So yea, it’s April! And that means June is right the corner. With the end of June, we will finally get that long-awaited Vanessa Carlton album, Rabbits on the Run.

Since she isn’t on a major label, releasing a single just a month before an album release isn’t going to cut it. And I’m ok with that! Her singles need to build anyway. I’m guessing Adult Contemporary and Triple A stations (which work a little differently than Top 40) will be the destinations for her single.

Carousel has been chosen as first rabbits single. A hopeful song that came out of vry dark place. A tune I woke up singing. Good vibe : )

So, “Carousel”, the single that she performed with Stevie Nicks in February, will be lead single from Rabbits. Looking forward to the CD quality version!

  • Vanessa Carlton Hops on Celebrity Bisexual Bandwagon?

    0

    Vanessa Carlton

I love me some Nessa, but really?

Miss Carlton (fully recovered from her pitbull “attack”) was the headliner at the 22nd Annual Nashville Pride Festival this weekend and apparently told the crowd that she is a “proud bisexual woman”.

This, on the heels, of a bevy of other celebrity females proclaiming that they too are bisexual. Seems like it’s become a really trendy thing to say. But are they really bisexual? Do they act on these feelings or are do they simply find other women attractive? Maybe Hollywood has a different definition of bisexual?

Anyway, if that’s how you’re rolling, Nessa, do you! All I ask is that you hurry up with that album, Rabbits On the Run! We’re waiting!

  • Vanessa Carlton vs. The Pitbull Who Bit Her

    0

It’s sad that one of my favorite singers is getting all this press because some dog bit her. But, in reading people’s reactions to this, you’d think NESSA was the one who bit the dog, and not the other way around! Here’s the original story, in case you have no idea what I’m talking about.

So basically this family has a 9 month old pitbull that has been nothing but sweet to its family. Sounds normal. Vanessa was running in the street, past dog’s house. It ran after her and bit her. The owners have an invisible fence that didn’t work.

Now, because Vanessa filed a complaint that could lead to the dog being put down, she is being labeled a murderer by the family’s owners. Say what?

PA law is what led this case down the road it’s traveled, not Vanessa. She didn’t go to the police and demand the dog be put down. If the owners had a real fence, this wouldn’t be an issue.

It also seems like they think that because she wasn’t seriously injured (only 5 puncture marks and a moderate amount of blood), she shouldn’t have said anything. Again, say what? Just because she isn’t fighting for her life doesn’t make what that dog did ok!

I run in my neighborhood all the time! I wish some dog would bite me! I’d file a complaint too! And this isn’t just about bad-mouthing pit bulls. All dogs need attention and to be trained. Pit bulls just always have a bad rep and I’m sure this doesn’t help. My mom was bit by a dog when she was little, and to this day, she goes out of her way to avoid dogs. She’s almost 60 years old!

Now, I don’t want this dog to be put down. Neither does Vanessa, who shared on Facebook that she wishes The Dog Whisperer could help. What do the owners expect her to do? She’s stated that she doesn’t want the dog put down. What do they want her to do? Plead that the law shouldn’t be applicable? Lie, and change her story?

I’m sorry. I just don’t see how this is her fault and how she’s “doing nothing to help”. What the eff is she supposed to do? The dog bit HER!

Control your damn dog and the entire situation would have been avoided! Take care of yo bidness.

Now let’s all hope there is a pleasant ending to this situation and that the dog gets to live.

  • Live Review: Vanessa Carlton (Cincinnati, OH)

    0

While I do run a dedicated site for Vanessa Carlton, located at Vanessa-Carlton.net, I never got the chance to post my review of the show I attended August 5th, at Cincinnati’s 20th Century Theater. She was an opener for Joshua Radin along with Alexa Wilkinson.

This wasn’t the first time I’d seen Miss Vanessa perform. To be accurate, it was the 3rd; which is saying a lot because an artist like Vanessa doesn’t get to be a road rat like other faves of mine like Josh Kelley. I’ve also met her. She’s been aware of V-C.net since the very beginning, back in 2002. She even recorded a thank you shout out video from the set of her “Ordinary Day” music video. If only I could find it, it was so sweet!

Cincinnati isn’t far from me, just an hour and a half. I have family don there too, so I was familiar with the area. I brought my brother with me because I don’t like attending shows by myself. Plus, he’s been with me every other time I’ve seen Nessa (because he likes her music too), so it wasn’t like I was forcing him.

It was a general admission, all ages show, at a small-ish venue. I love smaller/club shows much better than the big arena and theater set-ups. These shows are much more intimate and enjoyable. I was no more than 5ft away from Vanessa and her piano and it was lovely.

The drawback to this particular venue was that they had a “no flash” rule. So you could take pictures, just without flash, but since it was so poorly lit and dark inside, there was no point in try as all shots came out extremely blurry. I even had a DSL with a telephoto lens and I still couldn’t get a quality shot. But it was ok, because not taking pictures allowed me to just listen and watch Vanessa perform. She didn’t disappoint either!

As usual, I came away impressed with her show, and especially her banter. Before she started her first hit “A Thousand Miles” she stated how she wished she hadn’t sold her song to the jewelry company because of the whole “Blood Diamonds” conflict going on. Vanessa is very progressive, and probably meant it, but the audience just thought she was making a joke and laughed. She picked up on it and said “I’m serious!” but she was laughing too. It was a funny moment.

Anyway, I truly enjoyed seeing Vanessa and I wish she had more success. She’s overflowing with talent and deserves more in the music industry. I know, that even if he does stop recording and performing, she will be a dynamite composer and songwriter. As long as she wants to stick around, she will have a niche. I don’t blame her label, The Inc, because, to be honest, they probably have no idea how to market a talent like her. They’re used to hip-hop artists! However, VH1 ordered a second season of Gotti’s Way, so we’ll probably continue to catch a glimpse of Miss Carlton on there.

Can’t wait to see what’s next!
