  • Video: Vanessa Carlton Performs “I Don’t Want To Be A Bride” on Conan

I am officially stanning for Vanessa Carlton after this. Not that I already wasn’t, but she’s ramping up my fanhood a few notches! Homegirl said she worked on her vocals and it’s clear she did! She sounded amazing, and the children’s choir was an wonderful added touch!

Not to mention, she recently announced that she will be tour with Matt Nathanson. This is a win for me because his tour is coming to my city. I am absolutely thrilled to not have to travel to see Ness (even though I totally would have!) Click here for the dates and get yourself out to a show if she’s even remotely nearby. You won’t be disappointed!

  • Vanessa Carlton’s 2 TV Appearances from Wednesday (VIDEO)

It’s a rare thing for Miss Carlton to pop up on my TV, so best believe I’m going to share the goodness with my friends; and you, readers with such great taste, are my friends!

Anyway, let’s get down to it! Nessa made her nationally televised comeback performance on the Tonight Show with jay Leno and interview on Chelsea Lately today, and it was almost too much for me to handle. Not really. Well, kind of. I’m just so happy for her, and it’s good to see that face, and hear that voice again!

BTW, GO GET HER ALBUM, RABBITS ON THE RUN, RIGHT NOW!

Note: I fully expect NBC to yank the Leno video off YouTube (like they always do), so I’ll replace it, if need be, when I get back online!

  • New Single Came To Vanessa Carlton In Her Sleep

    Vanessa Carlton

I often have messed up dreams. And sometimes, those dreams contain dreams and ideas that wake me up. But, unlike Vanessa Carlton, my ideas don’t turn into great works of arts like a beautiful single.

In an interview with AfterEllen.com, Nessa describes the process she went through, in writing the melody and lyrics for her current single, “Carousel”.

Yeah. I have these dream songs and they’re wonderful dreams, but then you wake up and they’re crap songs — they’re not great. Or I forget them because they’re just snippets of your subconscious, I guess. I don’t know. But this one, I just woke up with that singing line in my head [hums melody] and I love that. So I went out, at 3:30 in the morning, and played it on the piano and put it on my Garage Band and then went back to bed. But I couldn’t go back to sleep so I just lay there and the lyrics kind of slid in and I wrote it just with my thumbs on my Blackberry, in the dark. And the next morning I woke up and I forgot that the whole thing went down. I just thought the whole thing was a dream. Then I went and checked my iTunes and I played it the little demo I made and it had really happened. And it was a really kind of lovely.

You can not like Vanessa Carlton’s music, but if you’re not impressed by how she created this song, then I think you need to reevaluate your music IQ.

Read the full interview to learn more about the process Nessa went through in freeing herself from labels and creating Rabbits On The Run, as well as her thoughts on coming out as bisexual last year.

  • Vanessa Carlton Touring with Matchbox Twenty?

    0

    Vanessa Carlton

Miss Carlton has already announced a small, intimate tour (my favorite kind) to support the release of Rabbits On The Run. I was initially bummed because the dates didn’t include anything near me. And I still am.

Then, while making the rounds today, I stumbled across a Matchbox 20 tour date that listed Nessa as the opening act. It’s legit!

On July 9th, the day after her solo tour ends, she’ll open for MB20 at a special show at the Pechanga Theater (Pechanga Resort & Casino) in Temecula, CA. FYI, Tickets are already on sale.

Right now it just looks like a one-off event, because the band isn’t doing a full tour either. But more dates popped up, I wouldn’t complain! I enjoy MB20, but I’d obviously be going specifically to see Vanessa. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time I’ve gone to a show where the opener was the sole reason for my attendance!

I’ll be keeping an eye on matchboxtwenty.com just in case!

Another Nessa live performance date has popped up as well. On July 22, she’ll open for Five for Fighting at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago. That’s closer to me, than any of the others, but still not close enough. I’ll cross my fingers for more dates to pop up!

But really, as long as she’s getting out there and performing for somebody, that’s all I can ask for as a longtime fan. The title of this post may seem a bit misleading, but what’s wrong with wishful thinking? That’s what I thought!

    Have a nice day!
