• Pixie Lott Scores Third #1 Single!

    All About Tonight

I knew she could do it! And by she, I mean her amazing fans, who went out and bought enough copies of “All About Tonight” to make it the #1 single in the UK! It’s her 3rd #1, after the footsteps of her debut single “Mama Do” and its follow-up “Boys & Girls”.

Her major competition for the week was The Saturdays’ “All Fired Up” and Leona Lewis “Collide”, who checked in at 3-4 respectively.

    Congrats, Pixie!

  • Throwback: MSM – I’m The Only One

I may be the only person on Twitter who even knows who MSM (Miami Sound Machine; the revival girl group put together my Emilio Estefan) is. But I loved me some them way back in 2001. This was their debut (only?) single, released by Sony Music, “I’m The Only One”.

They went on to have pretty good success in Spain as a primarily Spanish girl group. I had to hit up eBay to find a copy of the album that should have been released in the states. From that set, 5 songs still reside on my iPod.

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for cheesy girl groups and boy bands that sing generic pop (this was during the famed Latin explosion), so it’s easy to see why I gravitated towards MSM. Check them out!

  • Video: Vanessa Carlton Performs “I Don’t Want To Be A Bride” on Conan

I am officially stanning for Vanessa Carlton after this. Not that I already wasn’t, but she’s ramping up my fanhood a few notches! Homegirl said she worked on her vocals and it’s clear she did! She sounded amazing, and the children’s choir was an wonderful added touch!

Not to mention, she recently announced that she will be tour with Matt Nathanson. This is a win for me because his tour is coming to my city. I am absolutely thrilled to not have to travel to see Ness (even though I totally would have!) Click here for the dates and get yourself out to a show if she’s even remotely nearby. You won’t be disappointed!

  • Music Video: Jessie J – “Who’s Laughing Now”

I don’t know why people still aren’t talking more about Miss Jessie J. They need to. This woman got pipes and she’s actually singing about stuff that matters. It’s not all party or sex songs, like free radio is littered with these days.

Anyway, I dig her newest video for “Who’s Laughing Now” and how she takes a stand, in her own way, against bullying. I wish more artists (across all genres) would speak up and actually sing/rap about SOMETHING. ANYTHING! Take a page out of Jessie’s books, ya’ll!

    Anyway, enjoy!

  • Vanessa Carlton’s 2 TV Appearances from Wednesday (VIDEO)

It’s a rare thing for Miss Carlton to pop up on my TV, so best believe I’m going to share the goodness with my friends; and you, readers with such great taste, are my friends!

Anyway, let’s get down to it! Nessa made her nationally televised comeback performance on the Tonight Show with jay Leno and interview on Chelsea Lately today, and it was almost too much for me to handle. Not really. Well, kind of. I’m just so happy for her, and it’s good to see that face, and hear that voice again!

BTW, GO GET HER ALBUM, RABBITS ON THE RUN, RIGHT NOW!

Note: I fully expect NBC to yank the Leno video off YouTube (like they always do), so I’ll replace it, if need be, when I get back online!

  • Stacie Orrico is Back!

    Stacie Orrico

Right now I know some of y’all are like “who the hell is Stacie Orrico?” If you’re one of those people, the following gif is for you:

    killyoself

Nuttin’ but love for y’all, but it’s time for you to get acquainted with Miss Orrico. She’s immensely talented and an absolute sweetie (met her back in the day). She started out a Christian artist, then crossed over to mainstream popularity with catchy pop singles such as “Stuck” and “(There’s Gotta Be) More To Life”, which appear on her self-titled album. She was planning a US release the follow-up, Beautiful Awakening, thanks to the lovely lead single “I’m Not Missing You”. That song still resides on my iPod to this day.

However, I believe things fell apart with Stacie’s label, then she decided to take some time off, travel, live life, and what not, so some of us thought her music journey ended. Not soooooooo…

Stacie sent an email to her long-supporting fansite, So Stacie, which announced her return!

Hi everyone! I’ve returned from my holiday in Japan to find an e-mail from none other than the lovely Miss Orrico herself! She would like to thank you all for your amazing continued support over the years, and revealed that new music is indeed on its way! In the US, this new music is looking to be released along with a relaunch of Beautiful Awakening too, so all the US fans who missed out on the Beautiful Awakening era can get pumped! Stacie said the new album will be a continuation of where she left off from Stacie Orrico and Beautiful Awakening and that a record deal inking is foreseeable in the very near future. Most of all, Stacie assured us fans that music is and will always be a part of her life, whether it be singing, writing or producing for other artists. So, with that, let’s all hear a big “HIP HIP HOORAY!!” and stay tuned to So Stacie for further news on the return of our favourite singer!!

Hooray, indeed! Now, seriously. Get to know this girl! Go on. Do it, now!

ETA: Now that I think about it, when I met her, I took video of her acoustic performance. It was amazing. I’ma try to find it!

  • Pixie Lott Lands Modeling Contract

    Pixie Lott

More good news for Pixie Lott as it was made known today that she signed with Select Model Management.

This is a very good move for the Pixie Lott brand and I can’t wait to see what her first modeling move is!

Here’s what model scout, Tandy Anderson said:

“Pixie is stunning. She has presence, style, an infectious personality, and has already caught the eye of various designers and photographers, from Dolce & Gabbana to Ellen Von Unwerth. She’s a talented and successful musician and we are confident that as a model, she can enjoy similar success.”

I kinda dig it. A nice, fun song. I don’t really tire of these, and wish more American artists would provide more of the same. Can’t wait to see the video, which comes out Friday!

Having said that I’m not sure that’s what I would have led with as a comeback single. Sounds like anyone could have put that song out. Only differentiation is Pixie’s unique voice. But who knows what else Pixie has up her sleeve?! After all, she is releasing another single prior to the album release. Get it, girl!

  • Duffy Gets Back To Work!

    Duffy is writing in Spain

I mean, I love seeing some of my fave music Brits — Joss, Adele, Pixie — light it up lately, but I’ve been missing a certain someone… namely Miss Aimee Duffy.

I enjoyed her latest effort, Endlessly, and didn’t feel it got the promotion or accolades it deserved. So yea, the dance-y stuff was probably a little out there for the stereotypical Duffy fan, but don’t we all appreciate an artist who adapts and tries new stuff?

Well, I do, so that’s why I was so glad to see that Duffy is back at it, writing in Spain with Albert Hammond. She even supplied a picture (above) as evidence. So cute, that Duffy!

Anyway, I can’t wait to see what she comes up with this time, and hope we don’t have to wait too long to hear it! *goes and jams to “Mercy”*
