I’ve been diggin’ Jessie James for a while now, but haven’t gotten around to writing this “Introducing” post until now. The second I heard “Wanted”, I loved it! It immediately went on my iPhone. A couple of weeks ago, I found “Guilty” and it still has perma-repeat status on my iPhone. So, I decided I needed to start sharing Jessie’s gift with my visitors.
It’s curious that I even appreciate Jessie’s music because she’s just as much country as she is pop. But not too much. I wouldn’t like her at all if she was all Nashville. Her sound reminds me of the late 90s when pop music had a lot of crossover tunes from the likes of Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, and Shania Twain. I bought all of their albums and some of those hits still reside on my iPod to this day. Jessie James takes me back to that, and that’s why I’m a fan.
Not only that, but the girl’s got some serious pipes! Have you heard her sing? It’s ridiculous. I hear hints of Miss Aguilera at times and that’s a very, very good thing. She is a pure vocalist, which I consider an endangered species these days.

My cousin came home for Easter and told me I needed to check out this new soul singer named “Melanie Fiona”. This is the same cousin who told me to listen to Keyshia Cole long before she blew up, so I took her suggestion to heart and looked up Miss Fiona.
She told me that she sampled the Zombie’s hit song “Time of the Season” for her debut single, “Give It To Me Right”. She sang the beat to me and at first I thought “kind of like Duffy’s song?” Not quite. She told me just to download the single and listen for myself. I did and I am obsessed with “Give It To Me Right”. I love the sass and attitude Melanie shares in the track.

Introducing Kristinia DeBarge
Lately, while flipping through channels during commercial breaks, I’ve keyed in on a song playing in the Nivea Goodbye Cellulite commercial. I figured it was just a catchy little ditty created for the product and moved on. Then, this week, during “The Hills”, I heard the song again. It was real. And by real, I mean really catchy! I loved it! The song is called “Goodbye” by Kristinia (pronouced Kris-ti-nee-a) DeBarge.
I admit to having read news blurbs here and there about how another DeBarge was entering the music biz, but I didn’t really give it another thought. Having grown up during the 80s, I know allllll about the DeBarge family. The group DeBarge (which her father James was a keyboardist in), Chico and El’s solo projects…you name it, I was probably grooving to it!
So, to say that it’s in Kristinia’s genes to sing would be an understatement. And she chose her debut single very wisely! “Goodbye” is another single girl anthem that is a perfect summer jam. Yea, the topic has done before, but that hasn’t stopped any of the other attempts from enjoying success. I don’t think that will be a hurdle at all.
