I may be the only person on Twitter who even knows who MSM (Miami Sound Machine; the revival girl group put together my Emilio Estefan) is. But I loved me some them way back in 2001. This was their debut (only?) single, released by Sony Music, “I’m The Only One”.

They went on to have pretty good success in Spain as a primarily Spanish girl group. I had to hit up eBay to find a copy of the album that should have been released in the states. From that set, 5 songs still reside on my iPod.

I’ve always had a special place in my heart for cheesy girl groups and boy bands that sing generic pop (this was during the famed Latin explosion), so it’s easy to see why I gravitated towards MSM. Check them out!

  • Video: Vanessa Carlton Performs “I Don’t Want To Be A Bride” on Conan

I am officially stanning for Vanessa Carlton after this. Not that I already wasn’t, but she’s ramping up my fanhood a few notches! Homegirl said she worked on her vocals and it’s clear she did! She sounded amazing, and the children’s choir was an wonderful added touch!

Not to mention, she recently announced that she will be tour with Matt Nathanson. This is a win for me because his tour is coming to my city. I am absolutely thrilled to not have to travel to see Ness (even though I totally would have!) Click here for the dates and get yourself out to a show if she’s even remotely nearby. You won’t be disappointed!

I don’t know why people still aren’t talking more about Miss Jessie J. They need to. This woman got pipes and she’s actually singing about stuff that matters. It’s not all party or sex songs, like free radio is littered with these days.

Anyway, I dig her newest video for “Who’s Laughing Now” and how she takes a stand, in her own way, against bullying. I wish more artists (across all genres) would speak up and actually sing/rap about SOMETHING. ANYTHING! Take a page out of Jessie’s books, ya’ll!

    Anyway, enjoy!
