  • Melanie Fiona Performing Today in Texas?

    0

The Power 102 Power Jam 09 is going down in El Paso, TX and Melanie Fiona is among the performers on the bill.

Also set to take the stage are Chamillionaire, Hurricane Cris, Yung LA, Dorrough, and Young Problemz.

The show is at Wet n’ Wild Water World and gets underway at 4PM local time.

Granted, Miss Fiona has been making a few trips to see her doctor lately. She’s been tweeting about it and apparently can’t hear very well right now. Hopefully, for those El Paso fans, she’ll be able to make the show today!

    Feel better, Melanie!

  • Pixie Lott to Play Tramlines Festival

    0

Pixie is part of the early list of performers tapped to play the Tramlines Festival which runs July 24-27 in Sheffield, England. Other acts on the bill include The Panics and Little Boots.

Touted as an ‘urban Glastonbury’, the festival will take over Sheffield and feature line-ups from a host of famous names, local bands and very special guests. Curators on a local level currently include Jon McClure (Reverend & The Makers), Matt Helders (Arctic Monkeys) and Toddla T – while, from outside the city, the likes of Drowned In Sound and Ibiza Rocks have all lent their support. Best of all, it’s completely free.

More info can be found at www.tramlines.org.

  • No Surprise, iTunes Price Increase Hurts Sales

    0

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that if you raise prices on a product, and said product is available cheaper elsewhere, your bottom line is going to suffer.

I already blogged about iTunes’ variable pricing structure, which went into effect last month. It raises prices for the most popular tracks on iTunes to $1.29, while lowering prices for an extremely small number songs to $.69. However, most songs are still available for the original $.99 pricetag.

iTunes may be extremely popular and the go-to digital retailed for most, but that loyalty is being tested in these difficult economic times. Rival retailer, Amazon.com is offering many of the chart topping singles for $.99 still. I’m not sure about anyone else, but if given the choice, I’m going to buy my song at the cheapest place possible. Lately, that’s Amazon.com. Remember that, music fans!

  • Kristinia DeBarge Billboard Profile, “Goodbye” Video Finished

    0

Kristinia DeBarge is the subject of Billboard Magazine’s “Breaking & Entering” feature. Read her profile here.

New song titles on her self-titled album include “Cry Me A River”, “Sabotage”, and “It’s Gotta Be Love”.

Beginning June 4th, Kristinia will do a promo tour and afterwards a US tour. I’m not sure if this will be her own tour (doubtful) or an opening spot on another act’s tour, but I’m she’ll be getting out there and letting the public hear her music and get to know her.

Kristinia tweeted last week that she has finished the video for “Goodbye”. Her Billboard profile stated that it was shot last week in Venice Beach, CA. Can’t wait to see it!

  • Introducing: Melanie Fiona

Introducing...Melanie FionaMy cousin came home for Easter and told me I needed to check out this new soul singer named “Melanie Fiona”. This is the same cousin who told me to listen to Keyshia Cole long before she blew up, so I took her suggestion to heart and looked up Miss Fiona.

She told me that she sampled the Zombie’s hit song “Time of the Season” for her debut single, “Give It To Me Right”. She sang the beat to me and at first I thought “kind of like Duffy’s song?” Not quite. She told me just to download the single and listen for myself. I did and I am obsessed with “Give It To Me Right”. I love the sass and attitude Melanie shares in the track. » Read the rest of the entry..

  • “Goodbye” Climbs the Hot 100 Chart!

    0

'Goodbye' Single CoverKristinia DeBarge is making quite the splash with her debut single, “Goodbye”! It premiered on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week at number 75. This week, it rockets all the way up into the Top 50 and lands in the #42 spot! Doing very well early on!

See the Top 50 of the chart online here.

Also, if you’re looking to purchase the mp3 of “Goodbye” that you can buy at either iTunes or Amazon.com. Keep in mind, though, as a result of their ‘variable pricing‘ the price at iTunes could increase once the song gets more popular. I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets bumped up to $1.29 by the end of the month!

    Introducin Kristinia DeBarge

    Introducing Kristinia DeBarge

Lately, while flipping through channels during commercial breaks, I’ve keyed in on a song playing in the Nivea Goodbye Cellulite commercial. I figured it was just a catchy little ditty created for the product and moved on. Then, this week, during “The Hills”, I heard the song again. It was real. And by real, I mean really catchy! I loved it! The song is called “Goodbye” by Kristinia (pronouced Kris-ti-nee-a) DeBarge.

I admit to having read news blurbs here and there about how another DeBarge was entering the music biz, but I didn’t really give it another thought. Having grown up during the 80s, I know allllll about the DeBarge family. The group DeBarge (which her father James was a keyboardist in), Chico and El’s solo projects…you name it, I was probably grooving to it!

So, to say that it’s in Kristinia’s genes to sing would be an understatement. And she chose her debut single very wisely! “Goodbye” is another single girl anthem that is a perfect summer jam. Yea, the topic has done before, but that hasn’t stopped any of the other attempts from enjoying success. I don’t think that will be a hurdle at all. » Read the rest of the entry..

  • Video: Pixie Lott Live

    0

Since she’s still relatively new to the music scene, there haven’t been that many opportunities for fans to see Pixie Lott perform live; be it live or via video. This holds true especially for those of us across the pond who are equally as interested in her music.

The Sun has come to the rescue and provided us with 2 live in-studio performances. Watch them below!
