iTunes Price Increase on the Way!

Right now, most tracks on iTunes are available for about $.99 (USD). But that’s about to change!

On April 7th, a new pricing structure, currently being referred to as “variable-pricing” will hit the iTunes store. Songs and artists that are more popular will carry highly pricetags. Where they may be $.99 per song, will jump to $1.29. So, basically if your favorite artists are big digital sellers like Rihanna and Lady GaGa, you can expect to pay more for their music in the future.

There’s a flip-side to this in that other artists, who aren’t as popular with downloads, will have their music sold for less than the current $.99 standard. You’ll be able to scoop up some tunes for $.69 per track. My guess is that there won’t be that many songs available for $.69, but we’ll have to wait and see!

So, if you’ve been putting off purchasing some music or video from iTunes, I suggest you get to it STAT, because prices may be going up!
